Saturday, March 16, 2013, 4:37:28 AM- Another Change?
I know that it has only been 4 months since I began working in the position that I am in now, but things might change. A Sgt has asked me to apply for a position with the SHARP Coordination Unit. That is the Sexual Harassment and Unit. It takes up to a year to go through the process, so why not go for it? This area isn't new to me. I am no stranger (personally and professionally) so this isn't anything that I need to learn how to prepare myself for. One of the 3 scenes in which I participated in and taught at the police academy, was making sure recruits knew how to handle a scene/occurrence properly. The other 2 were: Child Molestation and Burglary. The big draw for why I chose my profession, is the ability to move around and learn so much. There are so many avenues and divisions available. It can always take you places if you let it.

Friday, March 15, 2013, 5:14:44 PM- What happened to the English Language?
I listened to this: He was like calling me like all night. Like what did he say? Like we went to the movies and like he didn't like it. Like that is so wrong. Like I know! WTH? It's a good thing murder is illegal or else I would have popped them where they stood.

Another phone call. This time from V. Not M, or T, or J or E. (part of the conversation) V: My sink is stopped up Me: Did you use Liquid Plumber? V: I used Alka Seltzer. Me: What? (eyes open wide) Why? V: Cause it bubbles too. Me: So does your head, V... but you can't shove it down the sink. V: Why are you such a smart ass? Me: Because you make it so easy. She is so lost, that sometimes I want to hug her until her eyes pop out of her head.

Iraqi Barcelona fan kills and beheads friend who supports Real Madrid Yahoo Sports: By Ryan Bailey | Dirty Tackle – 13 hours ago According to a report in Baghdad newspaper Al Zaman, carried by Spanish newspaper Sport, passion between rival fans spilled over into violence and murder this week. On Monday, a Barcelona supporter in Madain — a city a few miles south of Baghdad — supposedly argued with a Real Madrid-supporting friend in a gaming arcade. The Barca fan then reportedly "slaughtered" his friend with a knife, in full view of several witnesses. Arabs Today add the chilling detail that the Madrid fan was actually beheaded by his former friend. An Iraqi Interior Ministry source told them: Witness: "A fight broke out on Monday night at the Games Hall in Aldjaarh, between two friends, one of whom supported Barcelona and the other who supported Real Madrid." The source added that events took a dramatic turn when the Barcelona fan took out a knife and stabbed his friend several times, before "beheading him in public." Witnesses captured the offender and called the police, who rushed to the scene and took him to a security center for interrogation. The dead body was taken to the forensic medical department for a post-mortem. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, first of all, this is still a jaw dropper to me. I know all about soccer fans going ballistic, but beheadings? Not even a Raider Fan would do something like that...and I have seen Raider Fans get pretty violent. Second: Did you notice this line? > "the Madrid fan was actually beheaded by his former friend" Former? WTH? Ya think? The friendship is definitely over! Third: The dead body was taken to the forensic medical lab for a post-mortem? A: You can't do a post mortem on a live body and B. The guy didn't die from a spider bite, I think losing his head is what killed him. The entire world is going mad.

I would have loved to answer this call from a dispatcher. I saw this live on T.V. I still giggle at it. He was a felon, running because he had warrants for armed robbery and was attempting another one. lol.

Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 4:58:25 AM- My heart is crushed.
Earlier, 20 minutes after I had my manicure, I realized that I left my rings on the table. When I went back to get them, everyone denied seeing them or taking them. All 5 women said "I did not see them" Then the tears began to swell and I begged for them to be returned with no questions asked. Still no change of heart or feelings from any of them. I even called again and begged the manager to speak up or ask the employees again. I can take losing the spiral ring. I can have another one made. I can take losing the purple raw amethyst ring from Mesilla, New Mexico, given to me by my patrol partner. What destroys me, literally kills my soul, my belief in others and makes me sick to my stomach is the loss of the Platinum Gladdagh Ring that my Daddy gave to me before he died. It had a traditional sentiment of Irish love behind it. It had a Fathers love and wishes for his daughter behind it. I cannot begin to tell you how hard I have been crying. People are cruel.

Tuesday, March 12, 2013, 4:33:20 AM- Going off the beaten path. Take another walk with me.
During my Sunday walk, I saw a dirt path leading through some bushes....of course I had to take it. When I came through the clearing I saw a Mom and Dad laughing with their 2 kids. They were standing on a cliff of boulders, looking down. The Dad was filming a Seagull gulping down a starfish. It was hilarious! When he swallowed it, the starfish triangles stuck out both sides of his neck. Like a cartoon! We started conversing and since they were tourists they asked me where else they could see the sea life and animals. They were very nice people so I told them every place I saw splendor. I looked down into the tide pool below us and knew what would be down there. So I started climbing down the boulders and rocks. The Dad asked me where I was going. I told him that I was going in search of sea life. He and his wife said "Oh we are so there!" I was helping their son down and they had their daughter. The family was from Texas, so basically I turned into their tour guide. This tide pool was different, it was in a small cove full of long deep green sea grass and larger sandy dips of pools that you could bathe in. The seagull was still trying to get the starfish down it's neck, but we had moved on to the life beneath the water. We watched and touched the sand crabs, sea anemones and the various starfish. Not only were they amazed, but I as well. I saw beauty that appeared at times to be magic. And in all of my years, I witnessed something I have never seen before. I have been near, on and in the ocean since I was born. This day would show me something new. First we start with the view of the tide pool. Climb down the boulders with me, into an amazing colorful cove full of private lives. You won't regret the climb. It is worth it. Second, we take a gander over at the brave Seagull. The one so hungry, it swallowed and nearly choked on a starfish. I guess good seafood is worth it. I'd kill for a great slice of abalone right now. It took the dang bird 20 minutes or so to get it down it's neck. If you look real close you can see it's fat neck. Trust me, Seagulls have skinny necks. Now we move onto the Starfish. They were hungry too. Like I said, in all of my years in or out of the ocean, I have seen starfish, but I have never seen them move at a break neck speed in order to devour some sand crabs. It was the prettiest and most graceful thing I have ever seen. The 5 of us, just stood there and gazed in awe of such beauty. The kids were screaming with joy. Here are two different starfish that we watched during their supper time. This was a special moment for me. I had always wanted to see how they ate. They sure do pick up speed when there is food involved. We had spent 2 hours down in the cove. The little ones asking me questions, the mom and dad just watching their kids pick up the crabs. I was in heaven teaching little ones again. I showed them that it was safe to touch the starfish. I didn't get a picture of the black starfish. I don't know why I forgot. Anyway, the kids were giggling and noticing that each starfish felt differently. The red one was smooth, the orange sandy and the black was like rocks. While the kids and I were letting the sand crabs walk in our hands, the tide came in a little bit and soaked us. I loved it! I did snap a picture of the rushing water. The colors of the deep green sea grass against the blue water, looks like a crayola box of colors. It was at this time, we parted ways. They told me if was a joy to meet me and they thanked me for showing their kids what was under the waves. I told them where they could find the sea lions, the harbor seals, pelicans and jellyfish. They were going to the aquarium today, but I think their experience in person with the sea life will be a lot more memorable. I know that I had a blast! I never tire of the world out here. I am already looking forward to what I will find next weekend. Tomorrow night, I will post the barnacles that turn color in the blue water and the sea anemones of a glowing lavender. Thank you for joining me again. It is always a pleasure to show you my adventures.

Monday, March 11, 2013, 5:37:27 PM- Monday Morning Briefs
The brief usually lasts about an hour. But noooooooooooooooooo! not this time. A Captain droned on and on about his golf game over the weekend. He had to detail his experience and described his hole-in-one. In true NN fashion, I blurted out "Pics or it didn't happen"....lol. While he blathered on, this is how I spent my time. Drawing on my report journal. I should have sketched him tied to a chair with duct tape over his mouth...lol. What started out as a daisy motif, suddenly turned into a bird motif. I think Whoks will like it.
