Gift PremiumOdd yet delightfully intriguing. Morbid yet very very sweet. Sarcasm is part of who I am.....deal with it.

Saturday, August 10, 2013, 2:39:07 AM- Always good to hear
One of the officers who attended the Suicide Interventionist Training stopped me today and thanked me. He told me that he used the intervention training a few nights ago. Even though his heart was pounding, he was nervous, scared and shaking....he was able to talk a woman out of killing herself. He was one of the trainees who had a hard time wanting to just come right out and ask a total stranger "Are you thinking about killing yourself?" He told me that once he asked that question, all of the training rushed to his head and he completed the task. I asked him to please email all of the other instructors and thank them as well for their worthwhile and useful efforts. I told him that the teamwork within the department is what makes everyone successful. It feels good to know that the training we give works and helps. But the training does change with the times and we are always learning something new. After such a busy day, it was nice to hear what he had to say.

This young woman knows how to be cute and an inspiration at the same time. Plus her taste in toys is awesome! The video is 5 minutes long, but it is cool to watch how she is enjoying herself. But if you don't want to watch the video, here is the final outcome of her engineered masterpiece. She rocks!!

Tuesday, August 6, 2013, 6:44:27 PM- All before 0800 this morning
0645: Woke up and started the shower. Then stepped into the shower, looked down and discovered that I had forgotten that I slept in socks. Now in my defense, I do sleep naked, but last night my toes were a bit chilly...hence the socks. Now this could mean 1 of 2 things. I am a dolt or my socks were so comfy, they felt like my feet. 0700: Toasted my English Muffin and then dropped it jelly side down. Of course it was jelly side down! It's Murphy's Law. I picked it up only to drop it again. 0705: Proceed to slip in buttery jelly. Yes...go ahead....laugh. 0735: Out the door I go! Get down to the truck and discover I have on a dark blue shoe and a black shoe. In my defense they are identical shoes, just slightly different colors. I run back upstairs and change shoes. 0740: On the road to work. A squirrel is sitting on the curb. Once I get close to him, he dashes out and I run him over. I suspect squirrelcide. 0745: Still on the same road, there is a deer on the corner. Does he want to kill himself too? I don't want to take any chances so I slow down. He gives me this look as if he is thinking "Why are you going so slow, ya dumb fuck" 0750: I arrive at work. I get out of truck and drop my alarm and keys in a puddle of water. Then as I am bending over to pick up the keys..I drop my lunch into the very same water. 0755: I make it into my office! Safe and sound. For the first 15 minutes in my office I was afraid to turn on the radio. I didn't want to run the risk of electrocution. Life is good!

Tuesday, August 6, 2013, 7:04:11 AM- Sometimes you just have to say "No"
And sometimes you have to say no...many many many times. One of my many nieces called. I knew she needed or wanted something because she opened the phone call by saying "Hi Auntie" I asked her how everything was and she mumbled "okay" I let her carry on with the chit chat and then she did it. She let loose with: Niece: "Hey Auntie, can I come live w.... Me: Can't do it; Niece: But you didn't let me....... Me: No Niece: But I......... Me: Again, No. Niece: But we.... Me: No It went on with ...but there is........ No. We can........ No. But, No, But, No. It became comical. Once she was done with the buts and I was done saying no, she ended with "Oh I tried but won't give up. I'll find a sucker somewhere" This particular niece is 40 years old and has no clue how to hold down even a minimum wage job. When she was struggling to find herself in her early 30's, I helped her go to a trade school. She didn't apply herself and dropped out. I was okay with the lesson I learned with her. I didn't help her anymore after that. She has learned to stop trying to make me feel guilty about not helping when she calls. I don't mind helping others, as long as they try to help themselves at the same time. If you help me, help you....then it becomes a team effort. But if you sit back while someone else does all of the work, you become dead weight and unable to move. I doubt if she will ever get it. But that is not my problem. This is me, guilt free.

Monday, August 5, 2013, 5:50:37 AM- Being surprised.
I was chatting on the phone with my oldest son and he let the cat out of the bag. He said "Ma, when R gets out there, can you send him back with the photos you took for me?" I said, R is coming out!!!!? When!!!!? I was excited! It won't be for three more weeks..... But my youngest and his girlfriend will be staying with me for a few days! YAY!! While on the phone my son was telling me to calm down and save the excitement for when they come to visit. Oh I will be so very happy to see him, but I hope I don't end up looking like this............. I will refrain from baking his favorite cookies ahead of time. But what a coincidence that his favorite meal will be planned. I love making Chicken and Dumplings. He loves the fluffy dumplings. I drop the dough inside of the chicken and chicken broth and then let the dough simmer until the inside is like a fluffy biscuit. He isn't one who likes the doughy dumplings.

Sunday, August 4, 2013, 6:24:52 AM- Enjoying the day.
I didn't want to push it with the ankle today, so I took it easy. Yes, this time I listened...lol. Instead of walking the 6 to 7 miles along the bay, I drove to my favorite dunes. I am damned lucky to live here...so very lucky and enjoying every minute. Life needs to be loved. Even during the bad times, life is still worth living. I guess that view comes easy to me. When you see death in so many ways, you realize that this is the only life we get, so take it and run with it. I walked along the dunes and then settled my bones on the beach. Off in the distance, a group of workers were setting up for a sunset wedding. There were torches and lanterns besides the chairs and a beautiful altar decorated with sea grass. This is the view that everyone was going to enjoy as two people made their vows to love and cherish one another. I didn't stay to see how it all looked, but I do hope the bride and groom live a long and happy life. May they enjoy every sunset and sunrise together. Later on, everyone would be enjoying a wonderful evening. The moon on the water, the soft sounds of the breaking waves and off in the distance the twinkling lights in the hills. What a romantic back drop for the wedding. Who doesn't love romance.
