Saturday, February 4, 2006, 6:48:05 PM- environment canada takes on the ground hog
This is a part of the severe weather warning issued by environment canada for my area this morning.
As the storm heads towards Petawawa on Sunday the back end of the storm will deliver a nasty wintery punch to all of the region including Toronto. Strong northwest winds to 60 km/h or more will be accompanied by the snow with further appreciable accumulations of 5 to 10 cm with blowing snow likely.
Total snowfall in many affected regions may very well reach in excess of 30 centimetres by Sunday night.
This is a serious storm which is expected to have a significant impact over a large portion of the province. Environment Canada will continue to monitor its development.
In the longer term..In spite of what some groundhogs may say..It appears this storm will alter the north american weather pattern sufficiently to introduce real winter weather back across the province for the foreseeable future.
