I have a hard time understanding all the arguments over someone being transgender. So what? When I was growing up, I remember some guys being what we called effeminate. It didn't mean they were gay. It didn't stop me from interacting with them as people. If John feels more comfortable as Joan, so be it. I've heard some people say that if a guy can needs to shave he can't be considered a woman. That's not much of an argument to me. When my father passed away, a woman came to my dad's funeral. She was dressed up in a nice dress. The thing about her that stood out was she had a mustache... thicker than mine. I asked my mother about it later and she told me the lady had dark hair and when she was younger tried to shave off the hair on her upper lip. After a while she gave up and her husband didn't care. This was before waxing and electric hair removal became the norm. My point is that we shouldn't judge people for how they look. If Joan identifies with being John, I don't care. I just want to get the name right. ~

I saw a cartoon in the paper today where an old man is telling his grandson that the reason young people make bad decisions is because their brain is not fully developed yet. The boy asks when it is developed and the old man tells him it's when your hair falls out. Funny joke, one I can relate to - at least the part where your hair falls out. According to actual science, a human being's full frontal cortex, where your reasoning ability lies, is not fully developed until the age of 25. I must have been a late bloomer, because mine, judging by my history, didn't fully develop until the ripe old age of 55. ~

I had BBQ chicken for dinner last night. So (of course) my dreams were crazy: 1. It was mandatory for EVERYONE to get Covid vaccines. NO exceptions. 2. I was in the hospital for observation. In the morning, my doctor was a pretty blonde lady. By the evening she had a heavy five o'clock shadow on her face. 3. I time traveled back to the 1940s and became friends with my dad.I was even best man at his wedding! I don't care... the BBQ chicken was delicious. ![]()

Got my air fryer out today, just to make some french fries. While the fries were cooking I looked at the package the fries came in and a question came to mind: The brand name is Ore-Ida. Potatoes come from Idaho. Why is there a reference to Oregon in the brand name? Something to ponder while I enjoy my french fries. Wait - FRENCH fries? Will the questions never cease? ~

I'm sure a day like today is where the term 'taking a brisk walk' originated... as I found out firsthand on my daily walk. ~

A few minutes after I had walked away from my computer because I couldn't figure out why my printer wasn't printing, it came to me why. In a stroke of sheer genius, I realized I had forgotten to take the tape off of the ink cartridge. At least I didn't spend too much time worrying about the problem... I was just quicker to figure out my idiocy. ~

... it's another. My printer messaged me I was almost out of ink, so I bought another ink cartridge and installed it. Then I got another message that the printer head needs to be aligned. So I did that, too. So I decided to test it out. I picked a page at random and hit print. The printer whirred. The process began. the page came out... blank. After 20 minutes of searching and trying to find the problem, I decided that, since nothing is working, to leave it for now and mull the problem over in the back of my mind for awhile. To be continued... ~

I had a couple of strange dreams last night, but I'm not going to relate them. The important thing I learned is why I have the odd dreams occasionally. BBQ. Any form. Last night I had some bbq potato chips. The time before that, bbq ribs. I may not be the swiftest at realizing these things, but eventually I figure things out. It's like when I was suffering off and on with vertigo. After a while I realized I have a bout if I consume more than two alcoholic drinks two days in a row. I now limit myself to no more than two drinks at a time for no more than two days in a row and it works. I have found out, the older I get, to pay attention to my body. Spicy food and drink is a younger man's game. And I'm o.k. with that. ~

I watch old t.v. shows that are in syndication. I've seen every episode of the old Vic Morrow '60s classic Combat! at lest 4 times. I occasionally watch an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The same for the old Robert Conrad series The Wild Wild West. Just about every day I'll watch a little The Big Bang Theory and Modern Family because those shows were comedy gold. In fact, I watched an episode of Modern Family before I went to bed last night. This morning I awoke from a dream in which the character Claire Dunphy (Julie Bowen) had somehow become my mother - and she is 18 years younger than I am. For a second I thought maybe I should dial it back on the show. But then I thought, why? She's a babe and this could get interesting in the future. ![]()
