that I want to paint the kitchen red. I started on the weekend with the ceiling it is almost done (just don't ask why 4 coats of paint isn't enough I would have to write a novel)
As I was painting and making a mess of the walls, which I knew needed to be painted anyway I suddenly decided I want a RED kitchen.
Today I had use of a car so off I went for paint etc. I got to my local Canadian Tire (google it, it is much more than tires) and got talking to the woman in the paint dept. Me talkative? Not at all compared to her but I was enjoying our chat. To make a really long story short the colour of red I chose had apparently been giving them fits and they had come up with a new formula which was taped to the counter and half worn away.
Part of our discussion had to do with kids, money, budgeting etc. My new "best friend" then said "I know what we can do" and proceeded to haul me away from other customers to fill me in. Paritally hidden behind the paint shaker and the counter she informed me that she could mix the colour and get as close as possible to the one I wanted and if I liked it she would give it to me for half price (what they charge for colours gone wrong) At this point I am thinking I have nothing to lose and said go for it, after all I was under no obligation to buy it if I did't like it.
As it turned out the paint wasn't EXACTLY the colour on the chip but close enough for me.
Almost an hour and a half later I walked out of the store with a gallon of half price paint custom mixed.
Seeing red and grinning
