I was lazing in bed this moring just letting my mind wander and thought of a childhood friend. One memory led to another and I remembered us both getting what was called a soaker. Leaking boots would make your socks and feet get soaked. This was a common occurance I hadn't thought of in years. Technology has advanced and waterproofing is now common place but if you are a certain age and lived in a certain climate you will share this memory with me. I was smiling as I was remembering all the kids in the school yard in soaker weather. Late winter, early spring, lots of snow melt and rather large, deep puddles everywhere. It wasn't the soakers and the resulting pruny toes and sopping wet socks slogging through the corridors or the splashing through puddles that were making me smile it was the then common rememdy I had long since forgotten about that had come to mind that made me smile. The rememdy wasn't new boots, too late in the season for that...it was plastic bread bags. Smiling now aren't you? What you did was slip your sock clad foot into a plastic bread bag and then slide the whole thing into your boots. Everywhere you looked there were kids with plastic bags sticking out of the tops of their boots. Some had only one, others had one on each foot. It was a simple yet effective way of making a pair of boots last just that much longer until puddles dried and it was time for new running shoes. I remember how light my feet felt finally getting rid of those soaking wet boots and slipping them into a new pair of running shoes. Best of all, no more crinkling with every step! Enduring soaker weather with dry feet, ju

such a good sleep last night. The kind where as you slowly wake you know you are missing something and the more concious you become the less able you are to figure out what it could possibly be. The kind of sleep that when move you know it is for the first time in hours because you can feel where the wrinkles in the sheets embedded them selves in your skin. The kind of sleep you don't want to end because it felt so damn good. I didn't wake groggy. I woke incredibly well rested. I haven't slept like that in so long I don't remember the last time. I wish I could figure out what I did to get such a wonderfully refreshing sleep so I can do it again but I honeslty haven't got a clue. ju

Is a retard just like every other cat out there but yesterday I think he hit a new all time high? low? unsure which it was. I was at work so K1 was on dinner duty. She made peameal bacon (it's a Canadian thing google it if you are so inclined) and he was all over it. Wanted some badddddd! He was on the bench beside her at the table. He can't see what is on the table it is JUST that much too high for him but he can smell it. So sneaky lil bugger he likes to think he is decided to sneak the paw up there. She saw what was coming so didn't stop him. He figured he was going to be able to slide some of that meat off the plate without being noticed. What he ended up with was a paw full of mashed potatoes. He wasn't a happy camper Will he learn? I doubt it. He amuses me and that is why I love him so. ju

I split my thumb nail yesterday about of a quarter of an inch down into the nail bed. I trimmed it down and forgot all about it... Until this morning when getting ready to take k2 out to the bus I jammed my hands into my gloves and peeled it right back. Ouch!! Tears freeze fast at -25C lemme tell ya! Mindful now of the not so proverbial sore thumb, ju

FUCKIN HATE SAYING GOOD BYE. You made a little boy so happy. It was a little thing to you that has meant the world to him. Not a week goes by that he doesn't drag that shirt and radio out. Sleep well my friend you made a difference, more than you appreciated but one that will never be forgotten by me. Trying real hard not to mourn a death knowing the life will be celebrated for many years to come. ju
