"I havent been to Walmart once since the pandemic hit. I only went there for low prices available at 2 am. They have neither now, and don't treat their workers well... I hope to never go back."- MissAshlee
Way back in the 14th century, botanists often called foreign fuits or vegetables apple, like
a tomato was a 'love apple'.
A potato was an 'earth apple'
and a papaya was a 'custard apple'.
One of the first writings of the pineapple was by English expolrer Captain John Smith in 1624, who thought it resembled a pine cone and using the at the time use of a foreign fruit an apple.
So there ya go.
That's why a pineapple is called a pineapple.
Just don't get me started on where the name banana comes from.
