... to be happy at all times. Hard to do sometimes. Lots of people see your words and don't bother taking them for anything but face value. When anything saddens me, I write about it and let it out, then let it go. I am more upbeat than most people, but there ARE times when I might cast a "blue" vibe... if you knew me at all, you'd no that my words are my release. I will always TRY to have a smile for everyone, even in the direst of situations.
On the internet, unless you are visual, people can't read your feelings into your words... or once in a while they read too much!

Women in the navy are saving grace for the old term: "Well, blow me down."
I work with a navy lass... it's true!

Thursday, May 5, 2016, 6:24:38 PM- Where, oh where...
.... has my little dog gone?
Oh yeah, he ran away looking for me after the blizzard of '78. I found HIM 9 years later, living on a farm in the country... happy and healthy. He remembered me, too!
Life does have a lot of happy endings, ya know.

... TOO political, but it looks like Trump vs a Democrat. Are people really insane enough to elect someone like Trump who plays on our worst fears?

Tuesday, May 3, 2016, 6:10:40 PM- This has GOT... Part II
Odd... and a little eerie. After posting yesterday, I did what I usually do: forgot about it and moved on.
Today, I went to Facebook, to check and see how my old friends from years ago are doing - guys and girls I grew up with over 40 years ago. It's how we keep in touch.
Amazing! An old buddy posted a song that I'd not heard in quite a while. I wrote him a message and thanked him for doing it. He said he'd heard the song and thought about when I first started seeing the girl I'd wrote about yesterday. He wasn't around when she and I broke up... he was a sheriff In South Dakota by then.
Odd that two old friends would think of the same time AT the same time. Two minds really DO think alike!
This always makes me think of her:
Love the memories!

Monday, May 2, 2016, 6:22:23 PM- This has GOT...
... to STOP!
I had another one last night.
38 years ago, the love of my life and I went our separate ways: Her to Alaska, me to Chicago.
After all of these years, I still dream about her once in a while. I've had several relationships over the years, but none has ever been even close to being the same as what we had together.
Not that I haven't tried... when I'm involved with a woman, she gets all of me, heart and soul. But nothing (including marriage) has ever worked out. It doesn't take an intelligent person (although I DO have an I.Q. of 155) to figure out that if you can't have the one you want, then you're probably better off alone... which I am now.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not pining away. I am happy. There's just a part of me that will forever remain unfulfilled. As Clint Eastwood once said: A man's got to know his limitations. So I am content with just being me. (smiles)
There was an English sitcom back in the '90s starring the great Dame Judi Dench called "As Time Goes By". In the show, she runs into the love of her life after 38 years. The show (eventually) had a happy ending.
In real life? The thought of that happening to me scares me to death. What would I do? What would I say? I truly have no idea.
But the dreams just won't stop. (sighs) We all have our burdens, eh?

Sunday, May 1, 2016, 10:02:20 PM- 2 for 4?
The Giants won today (near where my sister lives), the Cubs lost (near where I used to live), and the Reds won (all most all of my hometown roots for them).
If my Red Sox can even play tonight (weather permitting) and win, I'll be 2 for 4 today.
