jake5270's blog post - Right idea

I see where someplace in Minnesota no longer has "snow days". Students now have to go online when they can't get to school due to snow. Everyone here in my state bitches about how to add missed days at the end of the school year, cutting into summer break. I think it's a great idea.

When I was in school, the administration building was located downtown. If the city busses were running, you were expected to show up. I don't ever remember a snow day.

Food for thought.

I LOVE snow days! Hate snow, so it's what makes them bearable. I adore my kids home and work from home though....I know it's a pain for some out there. Our state has gone to making up hours, not days. We have so many extra hours happening, the kids do not need to make up missed days until they go over 24. The reality is that they play catch-up at home regardless....learning has to happen before state testing at the end of the year.
