I stopped in to Walmart Monday on my way home to pick up a couple of things I had forgotten to buy Saturday.
When I got to the checkout, there was only one person in front of me -
a small frail-looking senior lady.
She was in a panic because her small order had been rung up and she couldn't find her money.
After her third attempt of going through all of her pockets and little billfold,
I quietly told the cashier I would pay for her groceries.
It came to about $20.00
When the woman had realized I had paid for her, she gave me a hug and began to cry.
I comforted her and told her it was alright.
As I paid for both bills, I smiled.
It felt good to help a total stranger.
I felt good about myself.
I was happy to help -
and it only cost me $20.00.
