Hi PhallicSupermacyOne,
Thanks for asking this.
When we started the site back in 2002, we started it because we couldn't stand the fact that sex and the naked body were not discussed by society. Everyone was created by an act of sex, and everyone spends a lot of their life naked, yet nudity is taboo in so many places and how often are you discussing your sex or intimate lives openly with friends?
When digital cameras came out, yes this site dates back to their becoming affordable for the masses, we recognised that now people could share their nudity, share their sex lives and discuss sex, fantasies and all the other awesome aspects of human sexuality. This is how we came up with the name, everyone at that point joining the site was a "Newbie" at sharing their Nudes.
We watched with joy as people flocked to the site and were sharing their sex lives, talking openly about sex in the chat, their blogs and these forums, and even going nudle live on our now defunct webcam section. (It was built in a technology called flash which no longer exists.) In around 2005 we were the 1,200th most visited site on the entire internet.
Copy cat sites started to appear around 2005 / 2006 (some even had the gall to just copy and paste huge chunks of our site) but people were still flocking to NewbieNudes and enjoying all that we have to offer.
Around 2007, Facebook started to gain a lot of eyeballs, and strangely enough, it affected how often and for how long people visited here. People have only x hours a day to spend online, and when people were spending a lot of that on Facebook, we definitely felt the affect. Later, in around 2008, "Tube sites" suddenly blew up. These are sites that copied Youtube, but were for porn. They were/are free and you can watch as much porn as you want whenever you want. They stole content, mostly from other web sites, and sold advertising for revenue. They grew like widlfire and to this day many of them occupy spots in the top 50 most visited sites online.
This had a dramatic impact on the usage here. The people that were popping in for a quick jerkoff could easily find longer and professionally produced videos on a tube site, so usage here declined.
In 2013 we were delt a huge blow, this time by Google when they decided to ban porn sites from advertising using Google Adwords. We lost a very effective way to let the world know we were here and to this day there is no equivalent alternative.
Then, in more recent years, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, have just COMPLETELY ABSORBED the viewing time of the younger (sub 25 year old) audience. I even find myself getting sucked into "reels" or "stories" or whatever they are called on each of the platforms. It is mindless, but entertaining, and it is quite scary how much time people are spending using these apps.
It isn't just affecting us, the whole "web" as the oldies (over 40) know it is dying. Google gatekeeps the entire web by manipulating the way it returns search, and Google and Apple gatekeep the entirety of apps. Web forums have all but disappeared with Facebook and Reddit getting all the attention for online discussion.
The most recent challenge was in 2021 when in response to their name being tarnished by association with PH (big porn site), M@stercard decided to make it mandatory for sites with user submitted content to require govt issued ID. This affected us greatly, and we lost a lot of members, but I am very happy to report we are now seeing as much activity on the site as we were back then, and our membership is growing too.
So here we are, 22 years later, I am still at the reins, and our mission hasn't changed. We want to be the place where people can come to express their sexuality, share their bedroom secrets, their sexy pics and vids, and discuss anything around human sexuality without judgment and with like-minded people.
I still firmly believe we are the best and one of the few places with this as our ethos. Despite people thinking we are "in it for the money" we are not. We do not make a lot of money from this site, we make enough to pay ourselves fairly and by fairly I mean in the real world scale not the Silicon Valley one.
Adult web sites, are a very tough business to be in, banks and credit card companies do not like us and we are continuously discriminated against as a result. We pay 500 to 1000% more for merchant facilities than your average store. We are required to censor every word entered into this site so that words such as *** and *** don't appear, and so on. Likewise, Apple and Google discriminate against us by not allowing us to have an app in the app store. This drives me nuts as reddit and Twitter (X), hell even google itself have more porn on them that we do or ever will.
Despite all of this, we are here, we love providing this site to you, we love what it represents, and the relationships that have been made as a result of its existence.
We are not shrinking, in fact our membership is growing again despite the fact we have all the above mentioned against us.
Please, continue to speak here, share your nudes, your sexual mind, view other's sexy photos & videos, use the chat, new groups, status and the forum. I honestly feel that we are going from strength to strength, and I still have the same dedication and passion for this place as I did the day I started it.
A wiser man than me once said "A tool unused gathers dust, and in its neglect, it fades from memory." Let’s keep using this great tool!
