In the kitchen with Misspriss....
Here are a couple of favorites from my kitchen...
(Now these are NOT originals, just a few things i have picked up over the years. But still so good!)

Meatloaf muffins
1 pound of Hamburger
1 package of stovetop chicken stuffing
1 tablespoon of Garlic powder
1 cup of water
BBQ sauce of your choice
Shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350. Grease the bottom of a 12 cup muffin tin.
Mix the first 4 ingredients together. Separate into 12 cups of muffin tin. Use the back of a spoon or another utensil and make a little indent in the top of each muffin. Put a dollop of BBQ sauce on each one. Bake for 25 minutes. Top with Cheddar cheese and bake another 5 minutes. ENJOY!!!!

Monkey Bread
3 packages of buttermilk biscuit tubes
1 cup of sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1 cup of butter (2sticks)
1/2 cup of brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350, grease the bottom and sides of a bundt pan.

Cut each biscuit into fourths. Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a bowl or zip-lock baggie. Drop each piece of the biscuit into the sugar cinnamon mixture, then drop loosely into a bundt pan. Once all pieces are coated and placed in the pan, put the brown sugar, 1/2 cup of the sugar-cinnamon mixture, and the two sticks of butter in a saucepan. Bring to just a boil. Drizzle this mixture over the entire pan. Use it all.
Bake for 30 minutes. Allow to cool about 5 minutes, flip out onto a plate, and ENJOY!!!

A couple of questions on the meatloaf muffins...

Do you brown the hamburger first?

And do you fix the stuffing first, or just mix it in dry?

This sound like something I'd like to try, so I was wondering.

Another favorite of my family....

Shepards pie

1 pound of ground burger
2 cans of regular corn
1 can of cream corn
Mashed potatoes
uncooked pie crust
Shredded cheese (optional)

Preheat oven to 350
Ground up burger
Place in the bottom of the pie crust
mix in cream corn (this keeps the burger moist)
layer regular corn on burger
Top with mashed potatoes


Bake for 30 minutes or until the crust is cooked through. Top with cheese if desired... replace in oven to melt cheese. (At this point i like to add sour cream to the top of mine)

shepards pie is made with lamb, not ground beef! the ground lamb has so much more flavor
try adding some carrots, celery , onion and fresh garlic as well, give it some flavor !!

i saute the beef,onions,carrots,celery,garlic, then add some butter and flour to make a nice "rue" , keeps it nice and moist and makes a nice tasty sauce with everything in the pan

What's the difference between Shepherd's Pie and Cottage Pie..
Is there any ?

i believe cottage pie is with beef, and i know shepards pie is traditionally made with lamb
at our local store you can get a nice mix sometimes, all in the same package, theyll do 1/3 ground beef, 1/3 ground lamb, 1/3 ground veal , so much flavor!

In the United States a similar dish is called cowboy pie. In New England the most common recipe for shepherd's pie consists of ground beef, kernel corn, mashed potatoes, and cream of mushroom soup.


I'm in New England, I just choose to use creamed corn instead of the soup.

I've never used creamed corn but it does sound good. I've always added veggies to mine and have used tater tots in lieu of mashed potatoes.

Either way..it's comfort food...wholesome and just gives you a good feeling to make it and eat it. thumbup thumbup

Never tried lamb...not sure if I could as I have a "baaa baaa" thing in my head I can't get around...not saying it's not good tho.

I guess however you make it it's almost an ethnic thing. Some use this, some use that. It's all a matter of what tastes good to you and what you grew up with. smile

I'm funny about eggs as well. I tried to make homemade eggnog once and didn't get them mixed in properly and it totally grossed me out. Now whenever I make them I'm anal about making sure they are cooked thru lol.

Here is a little party snack that I discovered in the five minutes i was a tupperware sales lady... lol.

Salsa dip
1 pkg of Softened cream cheese
1 cup of salsa (I use more)
1 cup of chedder cheese (again, i use more.)

Layer the ingredients in the order listed. Bake at 350 for about 10-15 minutes until the cheese on top is melted.
Use your favorite chip or cracker and dive in. mmmmmmm

I make a dip similar to this, just replace the salsa with a can of chili, voila chili dip.
